Thinking of supergluing some snails...

lol. Was spacing out staring at some snails with algae on them, got to thinking... Anyone ever tried supergluing moss to snails? Maybe some mystery snails? Would it harm them? Think the moss would take to their shells eventually? I've got 4 different kinds of moss, was thinking of doing a different one on each snail, seeing which worked best. Might try test it out on some MTS or something...

Seems a bit cruel. I imagine it could mess with the growth of the shell.

Yeah, I thought about that but; and I base this on nothing; it seems like the superglue would slough off at some point, hopefully after the moss takes... And if not, barnacles grow on (marine) snails all the time, right?

Use cyanoacrylate. Glue is permanent and corrosive, cyanoacrylate will disolve in about 6 weeks underwater at which point the moss will have attached.

Yeah, that's the gel, right? That's what I use for my mosses anyway.

What if that moss gets caught on something, snails don't exactly have much power to pull themselves free. I dunno this seems cruel to me even though I can't place my finger on why.

Oh it would definitely have to be kept short. Have to prune the plants and moss down anyway, might as well prune the snails while at it, lol.

I dunno, it feels like if someone in your life decides to superglue a house plant on your head with the promise of trimming it once in a while.

I agree with aluka. If you want algae on snails. Japanese trapdoor snails and normally covered with them. They are pond snails not the pest pond snails lol

gel superglue can be used to repair shells but not sure why just to decorate a living think it would be worth it...

I doubt it will affect growth of the shell - that occurs from the inside near the opening.

I'm not sure if it would be harmful, but I don't want to condone it either.

That would be accurate if they glued it to the helmet on my head, I guess... Anyway I like the algae on my snails, I just thought moss would look better than ugly algae and its something I haven't seen or heard of before. You guys make it sound like I want to surgically implant a tree branch to a puppy or something, lol.
