Plants, Plecos and substrate

Ok so I have a lot of questions I need to ask before setting up my new tank because im getting paranoid. So I want to set up a 30g planted tank, I have the plant substrate "Fluval Stratum" which I hear is light and hard to plant in and I want to plant very small plants like dwarf hairgrass and larger ones like anubias (on driftwood).

The problem is I have to take my bro's bristlenose cats (5) which are around 2 - 2.5 inches long each will they uproot the small plants? also will adding sand or gravel as a top layer help anchor the plants? Also will they eat the plants?

I don't know the type of bristle nose cats they are but if it helps they're brown with very small bristles. They don't seem to leave their big piece of driftwood often but I don't want to wake up every morning with my plants floating around
