Jim's Exotic Fish is pretty cool. Very close to LAX. 630 N. Sepulveda Blvd. Nature Aquarium at 2836 Santa Monica Blvd is definitely IMO worth the detour north to check out, he's got awesome plants and shrimp.

http://www.aquaticwarehouse.com/ in San Diego

There is a list in this sub-section that I put together around October last year with a whole whack of So Cal stores and people gave their opinions of them all.

Jim's Exotic Fish and Nature Aquarium are the only two I frequently visit. Jim's for the fish and Nature for the plants and driftwood.

Nature Aquarium in Santa Monica is an ADA reseller and he has some nice planted tanks in there plus some rare finds
