How do you plant your bog moss? I didn't really plant it at all.

Bog moss? I've never heard it called that, we usually just call it Mayaca.
I take 4 or 5 stems and push the bunch into the gravel with a pair of tweezers. When I trim I usually plant everything I trimmed off, back into the tank the same way, and I don't remove the old stems. The old stems usually have taken root for me so I end up with a lot of plants as they regrow. I do this with all of my "thin stemmed" stem plants. Other plants with thicker stems are individualy planted with the tweezers. I also allow anything I trimmed off the plants for the initial planting to float around in the tank to see if it will produce some more stems for me. I like getting just a single stem from someone and turning it into a forest.

I don't know if you can see in these photos, but I have a plant growing out of my ball of riccia that isn't riccia. I'll find the name in a second here.

Also have a tiger lotus sprout coming up out of the substrate.
This one used to be huge and after I moved, I thought that I killed it, but I left a tiny stem and root buried in the substrate. George, when should I get rid of the aponogeton ulvaceus?

If you wait too long to remove the aponogeton you will also have to remove a HUGE root system, so I'd remove and give it away as soon as possible.

Do you think I should just stick it in my 38g lowlight tank?
I'm gonna pull it tonight.

Is the 38 taller? It doesn't matter about light levels really, it will eventually grow huge, but you'd be better off in the 38, if it's lower light it will take longer to grow so big.

Thanks for the help George. I'm gonna stick it in the 38 tank.
It'll grow slower. I haven't really set up the 38 for plants yet, so it'll take some time for it to grow. How about that sunset hygro in that picture, man does that stuff take off. Also, I've got a plant growing out of the riccia ball that isn't riccia. Love when that stuff happens.

this may be a crappy picture, it's out of focus, but it's the only one I've got at work right now.
It's on the left side of the riccia ball growing up.

I think it's pretty cool how it just started growing out of my riccia ball.
I guess it got scooped up with the stuff. I love those little extras. That's how I got my water sprites.
