my tank is 36x12 38 gallon
i'm still trying to find adequate lighting and i'm torn between compact and regular flourescent...the local stores offer little selection does anyone have this light? would love to hear real reviews my other concern is that the size 7.25" wide will make it tricky to get into the tank (sliding glass top) unless i elevate but since it's in the living room i don't really want the glare from raising the hood any help would be appreciated...my amazons are dying michael |

That is about 5WPG! That is a lot of light!
Can you find a PC fixture with 2x55Watts. That would put you in a much more manageable 3WPG. You will need to inject CO2 to keep the algae at bay, but it would be better that the 2x96Watts. Mike

hi Mike,
thanks for your reply i kinda thought 2x96 would be overkill and i know allglass makes a complact 2x55 watt but that means that there is only 110 watts in a small section in the middle...isn't that only 1.44wgp? thanks again, michael |

i'm confused...they're not side by side...they only double up in the middle
so there's only 55 watts on each side of the tank and 110 watts in the middle where the bulbs actually overlap? |

Michael, you could get the 2 x 96 watt fixture and only use one bulb. That would be plenty of light for swords.
