My "not sure what to call it" bowl

Found this bowl in my basement the other day, thought it would look good to throw some random stuff in.
I recently won a RAOK and with it came a bunch of stuff, riccia, lots of snails of various sizes and i think it may be bacopa or pennywort. Ill know when it gets bigger. So after putting alot of what i go into my 20 gallon i had the idea to put the rest in this bowl.

I used already established floramax and tank water. Put a java fern in there, riccia, salvinia and the mystery plant. I also added three medium size snails in. Was gonna add only two but two were stuck together so it was a 2 for 1 deal. Natural day light plus a 23w cfl about a ft away being used to germinate some seeds, not really direct light from the bulb. I also put a plastic lid on top to trap any evaportaion and maybe retain some heat.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

It would be like a homemade Ecosphere, but less crueler!

I think that over feeding leads to overpooing. So I would think to feed less and lass often. Also the snails could eat off of the biofilm, anyways. How about adding a shrimp or two?

I wouldn't recommend amano, they poo a lot! Red cherries or ghost shrimp could be some choices, but try to keep the quantity at a minimum, unless you want to do daily water changes lol.

Ill have to look into that. Daily water changes wouldnt be that bad, this bowl has to be like a half gALLON, no way its more then a gallon.

Okay, but shrimps would be best for a tiny tank like that. Hope you be successful with it!

Looks like a neat setup.

Reminds me of something similar my friend did with a two gallon cookie jar. She threw a couple (a lot) of snails in there and then only opened it to throw in more plant clippings.

Unfortunately, over the course of several months, it kind of fell into a decadent downward spiral and it's become something of a biohazard. Now we use it to haze friends by making them open the lid and smell the inside.

But I'm sure that won't happen to you. Because you'll probably look at it occasionally.
