Foam mat size

I recently purchased one of those foam mats. Got it from amazon, Mr. Aqua brand for my Mr. Aqua tank. However, it's a centimeter or so off lengthwise. Should I just try to center the tank on it, or should I return it? Will this do the job?

I haven't used that exact foam mat but I have used foam before. What I do is just cut it roughly to size, fill the tank and then go around the tank with a razor blade. It's actually a lot easier with the tank filled. Just take your time and put some effort into it and you can get it absolutely perfect. Or you can center the tank if it doesn't bother you and you don't care to trim it.

It's actually a little bit small length-wise. Dunno if there's any saving it.. but if it'll work that'd be cool. Otherwise I guess I can get some foam from Lowes..

I wouldn't use it then. I am pretty paranoid and it being rimless would bother me.

Ok, how thick should the yoga mat be? I have a yoga mat, but it seems a lot thicker than this foam pad.

same thing happened to me with the same mat from Amazon. I ended up buying the ADA garden mat which came a bit larger than the tank and was easy to cut down to size.

Also, I think I'm gonna go ahead and use an Everlast foam yoga mat, since I have one on hand. Plus if I cut wrong, I have two shots!
