Rainbow Neocaridina?

Is there such a thing? I bought some relatively cheap (<$1 each) through an auction, but mine don't really look like the ones in this picture. Some are wild like, some light blue, some red, and some almost orangish. At least they were cheap. And 2 came berried. None are/were green.

No. In my opinion these are throwbacks to wild. Let me guess- these came originally from schoko or chocolate shrimp?

Yes the seller said they came from chocolates. Now would it be possible to eventually cull them back to schoko? Could I breed a green strain by culling all other colors? Do they throw any color?

You can cull for just about any color that pops up. It may take at least a year to see moderate results, so have patience if that's what you decide to do.

Honestly if you were trying to get schoko though, you'd be better off buying schoko and saving yourself years of work for something that already exists. Can't tell ya how many projects I've scrapped because somebody else already standardized a strain. Not worth the work, if you can just get it already made. In my opinion it's worth the extra cost because of their blood sweat and tears that went into it.

You watch defiance?

These will likely throw out variety of colored babies while being largely translucent. If you were after a specific color, it would be generations before a pattern could be more consistent. Might be easier waiting for Mzjinkzd to import those gorgeous green shrimp again... its unlikely to get the same solid color quality without years passing...

I might just do this for fun, get an intro on this kind of stuff. I would rather make a green strain then just wait. Maybe even mix. But I have time so this is going to be fun!

Ah...ok. I was looking at pictures on yahoo and thought they just looked like chocolates so I wasn't sure. Thanks for clarification.

Are the german chocolates superior to other varieties? Or is germany where they first developed the chocolate color morph?
