Sword tips?
I'm really pleased with how the swords and aponogeton in this fairly new tank are doing. I have a few questions though...
I'm getting some GSA on the lowest leaves of the plants.... any idea why this is happening only on the very lowest leaves? What's the correct way to trim a sword?

I trim my swords so that I try to get the whole leaf with the petiole. I do this by pulling the petiole away from the crown sort of 'along the substrate', ie. in the horizontal direction. Usually the whole leaf detaches easily. The idea is not to leave a part of petiole to decompose by the crown/ in the tank. Nothing untowards will happen - it's just mostly not nice to look at...
Very healthy looking tank you got there! |
