This is a little bit of new tank syndrome and me not attending to the problem sooner. It's a 45-P with a 18 inch Ray 2 that is on 9 hours a day and I also have CO2 at 1-2 BPS. Let me know if you need any other details. I have a couple tiger shrimp and PFR culls in there. My UG is covered in the stuff but the new UG spreading isn't contaminated so far. Some Tropica 49 in the back that is also covered

What do I do? Blackout? Spot treat with excel?

UG maybe harmed when treating either peroxide or excel... this is a sticky situation indeed... Maybe in lower dosages over several treatments, it may be kept undercontrol. have you attempted the 2 punch treatment from dark cobra?

Not yet. I'm scared to lose the UG from a blackout

I have UG and had it through 2 blackouts. It was fine. I even spot treat from time to time with excel. No issues. Once I used api algaefix...melted that portion i treated.
