starting 55gallon planted after sickness?

I just got some rainbowfish like a month ago and they got sick a few weeks after i got them with columnaris and just got over it about a week ago and ive been sucking the meds out with carbon and i dont know if i should start to pull my gravel out and start putting my flourite in to prep my tank for new plants but im afraid after them being sick such a short time ago they will become stressed out agian. What should i do?

I would wait for a little bit yet. Maybe a week or so. Give it time to make absolutely certain the illness has cleared.

yeah give it a lil while. a substrate change will stress them big time and they could get ill again.

Agreed on all that.
You could fish them out and put them in a different tank while you do a substrate change too when you get around to it.
