Do you have a drop checker? Just based on the looks, it looks normal. A drop checker will tell you if you need more, less or have just enough CO2.

The streams of larger bubbles around the edge is not good. It's killing efficiency.

Just put in a drop checker today. Could I superglue the edge seam to seal it up?

On the plus side the current keep the bubbles in the water for a good 15+ seconds. Maybe more

True. I didn't catch that. It'll still work, just won't be as efficient as a good, quality diffuser.

Aim the filter output towards the diffuser, it should help the bubbles stay in the water longer.

Bubbles will become coarse within a week or so due to algae, and that's when you dip it overnight in hydrogen peroxide or bleach to restore it to working condition.

Where it is now the bubbles are in te water for 20-23 seconds before making their way to the surface. Is this a good amount of time or should I find a way to slow them down further

Super glueing those edges may fix the bubble streams.. is it a big enough difference to justify the efforts?

The drop checker is in the opposite corner of the tank by the filter intake. It's been in there since this morning and is Showing a dark green color

Depends on what the hissing is. My description of hissing is that maybe the connections aren't sealed properly. Or maybe you're referring to the sound of bubbles dispersing.

IT is defiantly coming from the bubbles exiting the ceramic diffuser in the tank

I went over the connections on the tank with soapy water and it seem to be sealed properly
