There are two different lights that I have bee looking into. I have a budget of about $140 and I want the best light that money could buy. I don't reall know that much about lighting so its impossible to make a decision. I am getting a 55g plexi or glass, what lighting system is the best? I don't wan the light to get to hot and melt things. Can those plastic arm thingies I have seen be attached to just any light fixture? I am not getting a canopy for my tank either. What to do, what to do? Well here are the links to the lights I have been checking out

* Scroll down to the bottom it the 47'' one.

Here is the other:

If you have any even better lighting do share...please!!!
Or tell me which one you think would be the best choice.
Thanks so much!!!

that 47" is only gonna give a little over 2 watts per gallon...better than nothing, but far from 'high light' levels.
You should take a look at ahsupply.com they have some of the best priced kits.
I built my own wood canopy and mounted my power compacts inside on the lid, so when I open it, they're outta the way. lift the whole canopy off to do tank maintenance.

Put it together your self...oh jeez its like IKEA. Does it come with instuctions? Maybe my Uncle can put it together. Does it have to be mounted on the canopy or can I just get one of those lighting thingys they have one the site? I was also curious if I could just get the lights on my link and put in higher wattage bulbs in later? I didn't really want a canopy ...but maybe I will have to get one eh?
