Whats wrong with my vals....help


they seem to have black spots on them...mostly on the new shoots.... i dont believe its algae. can anyone comment on whats happening?

I think you got vallisneria spiralis leopard. In that case, those spots are just part of the plant.

i hope thats the case.. cause where i bought it from said it was vallesernia americana. but it does resemble the "leopold " ones. thank you

The val in my tank was also sold to me as V americana but it's also a V spiralis leopard. i believe it's something that fish stores just get mixed up unfortunately, but it's growing great and provides the same function
