Bet how many times they'll ask

i've been keeping an 8 gallon fluval flora iwagumi with crystal red shrimp at school for my senior project. After being strongly encouraged by a teacher I recently moved the project to my school's new building that they're calling the innovation lab that is supposed to give students hands on learning activities and promote going green. Apparently i will be there tomorrow for the building's grand opening to deliver a presenation about the project and answering questions. The audience will mainly consist of younger children and stay at home mom type that participate in all the school activities. How many times do you think they'll ask the question~ can you eat them?

Just scream
"My BABIES?! Why would you EAT MY BABIES?!"
Then flip a table
They'll only ask you once

I'm betting they'll ask "Can I pet them?" more often.

Go to Popeyes and get an order of fried shrimp. Put one in your pocket and when the first one asks, pull the fried shrimp out and take a bite. Say, "Sure! They're on the menu every Friday night!"

This would be a good forum to present the hobby in a positive light, explaining the care they require, a bit about water chemistry and the ecology of the tank. Maybe explain the various types of plants and their unique attributes in a scape.

Inspire the next generation of hobbyists and lead them down the right path to responsible shrimp and plant care

Good luck!

I highly doubt little kids have the mental capacity or attention span to grasp that type of information

I know a lot of adults that don't have this mental capacity, nor do they care to. Heck, some are even fellow hobbyists. And no matter how many times one tells them what they're doing is torture, they don't listen

do not doubt

my 6 year old grasps the concept of a co2 reactor vs a diffusion disk and how each benefits a tank and the drawbacks of each
he understands how liht affects a plants need for other nutrients
he gave me thoughtful input on building a co2 reactor that allow some mist through but not all

he has repeatedly asked me to bring the lights back down so the blyxa will turn more red.

he helps care for the shrimp tank and i will be letting him decide the planting layout as he has some pretty good ideas, and good logical thought processes as to why he wants a specific plant where

Well then you are very blessed with an inteligent and advanced child. Most kids at 6 don't want to stand still for more than 5 seconds, let alone listen to boring technical jargon.
