Hi, Co2 Yeast problems.

Hi, Im back(to those who cares). My PC messed up and Needed to wait about a month(didnt have time) to get back on.

Anyway, Ive been struggling lately with my co2 yeast reactor.

Its considerably slower! I changed the point at which the tubing connects to the bottle from just plain sealant to a bulkhead fitting(got from a a hobby shop).

I'm suspecting its the room temparature, its gone down to 58-70*F . Might this be the problem. I did some observations, counting the bubbles per minute as the temperature rises.(from a mere 2 bpm at 60*f to 8 bpm at 68*f.) Is it advisable to have the yeast bottle in a bucket with a heater. Thanks.

Yes, good results can be gained by adding to a bucket and heating to about 80 degrees.

Or get some wine yeast which works at lower temps than does bread yeast.

oh, ok, thankx guys, i might switch to pressurised sytem since I just read on where to get them at really cheap prices!(in case you are wondering, you can get them at your local beverage/welding supplies stores. You can also buy them at beveragefactory.com which I'm so happy because of the fact that thier main office is located here!).

All I can say is you get what you pay for. Buy a regulator at a beverage store and chances are you will either have to mail order the fittings and adapters or run all over town to get them. You will also have to get a needle valve and a bubble counter. If you ever intend to automate the system you will also need a solenoid. It's much cheaper to get a all-in-one unit like the Milwaukee All in One Regulator which is under $100. Figure a decent regulator is going to run $50, needle valve is $10, adapters are going to run another $10 minimum plus the hassle of finding them. Already you are at a minimum of $70 and you still don't have the bubble counter or solenoid. And I can tell you that buying the solenoid is going to set you back around $30. So the All in One is a pretty good bargain.
