Duetto Filters as CO2 reactor

I found a old Duetto DJ100 internal filter lying around and tried using it as a CO2 reactor since
it has a intake for air. The current it made was too strong for the tank and since it is most likely an
old model it did not have adjustment controls for the output. I am thinking of getting a new one
with less output and adjustment controls. Has anyone used this as an way to mix CO2 into the
water with good results?

They do look startilingly similar to the powerhead/gravel vac reactor a lot of people make. I considered using one on my new 20g mountain-scape but didn't want the internal clutter.

Is the air intake before or after the impeller ?

On most powerheads it's after the impeller and thus not suitable for injecting co2.

Actually its after the impeller which is nice

Then all it will do is spit the gas into the water where it will bubble to the surface and escape into the air. You want to inject the co2 before the impeller so that the impeller will chop the bubbles into tiny bubbles that will more easily dissolve into the water rather than escape into the air.

I've used the 50 before with the flow turned all the way down. It did fine with DIY CO2.

I've been using a 201 power head (via venturie), that is, after the impeller to inject CO2 with the Hagen system with great reasults...That is, for my 20 gal. tank.
