Issues with DIY co2

I bought one of those nutrafin co2 ladders. When I first set it up the bubbles were coming through, but then later that day the bubbles just stopped coming out. I checked for leaks and there were non. The ladder is at the bottom of a 18in 29 gallon tank. The only way I can get this to work is if I just attach the tube to the inlet tube of the filter. This works great, but the bubbles are making this'' ptsss'' noise in the filter. It's pretty loud, is there any way to muffle this noise or make it go away?

DIY produces CO2 pretty slow so dont be surprised if the rate at which it comes out of the ladder is slow. If you can confirm that Co2 is indeed comign out of the tube, then ladder should work. I don't know if they use pressure to push the bubble out but if I recall it simply uses the bouyant force to trickle the bubble up the ladder. So since you say when you place teh co2 line into the filter you get noise as the bubbles are gettign churned up. Thats normal. are you using an external filter?

No, its typically not a good idea to inject CO2 into the canister filter. The bacteria there use Oxygen, not CO2 and its not good for the longevity of the filter. People have been sending CO2 in the filter without problems but still, I advise against it if possible. The sounds you hear is the gas buildup.

I'm sorry I didn't know that you meant canister filter lol. I had the tube in a HOB filter. The noise was too loud and my mom couldn't take it. So I moved the ladder up to were the filter out take it, still no bubbles, but maybe it will take time. DO you know why the bubbles were going when I first setup the ladder, but then stopped, i mean like no co2 was coming out of the tube.

DIY is not consistent. You mightve run out of sugar or soemthing. Or a small leak is somewhere. Hard to tell without seeing it. Try remaking the solution and see how that goes. How old is it?
