Planning a LT 10g

I have a good idea with regards to aquascape. Here it is:

Pale gray play sand from Lowes
A few small pieces of black granite
A good deal of willow moss -low growing and covering most of the tank
And some kind of fern or ?

The fern is where I need some suggestions. I'd like to avoid rooting plants because of the sand substrate. It should also be/stay small as the tank is only a 10g. It would preferably be a more subdued green or brownish green color. I like the size and shape of java ferns but I think that they would be too bright of a color.

The lighting is 2.5wpg 6500k and perhaps diy co2.

Any suggestions?

I would suggest some crypts. I've kept red wendtii in playsand from home depot and they did just fine. You can get them in just about any color and shape. If you don't want to go with rooted plants, anubias is always a winner.
