Since pfertz is no longer...

Any suggestions on easy dosing methods similar to pfertz? I liked being able to just squirty some micros and nitrogen into my tank and call it a day. Any distributors out there have products like this?

Make your own. Much cheaper and more economical. ADA can give you stuff easily but as far as some of the producers of liquid ferts go on here they aren't too reliable.

Do you have a link to a tutorial showing how to make my own?

I would also advise for the use of dry chemicals (fertilizers). You can mix up your own liquid solutions and dose in a similar fashion as you are currently.

It is also much cheaper and more economical in the long term.

One of the easier dosing regimens is to use EI (Estimative Index). For more information regarding dosing regimens and the type of chemicals you will require, please take a look at my Primer to Planted Tanks (linked in my signature below).

Pick up a cheap .01g-100g+ scale on Amazon for cheap, pick up some empty squirt bottles from a beauty supply or dollar store, get a couple of gallons of distilled water and go to town.

There are dosing calculators you can use for making your own fertilizers for your tank size.

http://www.barrreport.com/showthread...tyle-EI-dosing

One of my personal favorites that doesn't have any calculation aside from adjusting the dosage (basically it's 12ml per 20g so around 0.6ml per gallon).

Default Dry Ferz KISS

The best service and the best prices are right here on TPT (middle of the post):

My personal mixing formula: questions and comments welcome:

4 tbs KNO3 + 3 tbs K2SO4 + 1 tbs CSM+B + 1 tbs MgSO4 7H2O
mixed in 1 Litter of water (distilled/RO works, but so is the tap)
add ~ 5ml of Excel to prevent mold

dose 5ml of the above solution per 10g every other day.

--> if you mix a lot, keep the stash in the fridge
--> I keep mine in bottles from Excel, full bottle cap is 5 ml
--> Bottle caps from API products have measuring marks for 1 ml, 5 ml, and 10 ml
--> There are valid arguments for mixing Macros and Micros separately
I like it KISS.

I got mine from GLA. The best thing is that it will take a very very long time to run out of dry fert

I dose my dry ferts straight into the tank. I have measuring spoons for the ferts and just sprinkle it in front of the filter flow. It dissolves quickly. Idk if anyone else does this but it's fairly easy to me.

Many people do this. I like using liquid dosages because I intend to setup an autodoser in the future.

Thanks for the responses. I'll look through some of the links while I'm at work today. I'm sure I'll have questions....

Nilocg on here sells premixed dry ferts and separates. On his premixed it comes with bottles and you just add water.

I ordered premixed liquid ferts from nilocg. He's a member on the forums and it was fast and easy and arrives three days after ordering. I live on pacific coast so it might have made delivery faster but either way I'm happy. I didn't want to deal with weighing and measuring all that stuff.
