Islandgal's Tanks (pic heavy)

Hi, and thanks for stopping by my Journal

This is my 20 gallon project. I originally set this up in April, and it has undergone many changes and "learning" curves But, there is progress

These are pics from 08-24-14

I've had a few problems due to co2 parts and that darned learning curve again -lol. Last night I did a bit of clean up,and installed an E-heim 2213. This morning I hooked up a GLA atomic inline diffuser, bubble counter and drop checker. Such a wonderful difference on this tank already!

I am currently acclimating Rasboras: Microdevario Kubotai and Sunadanio Axlrodi Blue Form. So excited...I have been wanting these for a long time.

My baby albino bristlenose pleco, who I haven't seen since the first hour in this tank. Here he is in the guppy tank.

Also residing in this tank are red and marigold honey gourami and leopard danios.

Bump: While cleaning up last night, I removed the mopani wood stump to make more room for plants (I really love this piece..think it has a tank of it's own in the future) I added red clay tabs, and am starting with PPS-Pro tomorrow. Need to do all the water checks before I release the new additions. And, note to self: don't forget the timers again!

But, I got pearling for the first time. Not the greatest pics, but look, it's pearling!!!...lol!

Just a few pics,I am quite pleased with how this is coming along, finally! The red clay tabs have made a difference in just a couple days, and the star grass that melted is coming back

Can't wait for it to fill in! Grow, baby, Grow!!!

Default Ick

Things were going well with this tank this week, then this morning when feeding, I find 2 of the neon tetras and all of the Sundadanio Axelrodi have ick

I turned up the temp, (am working on getting it up to 86), purchased Tetra Ick Guard (states it is plant safe), took the filter media out of the e-heim.

I hope this fixes it.

But the good new for today is the e-heim 2211 is here for the 10gallon

I ended up losing all the sundadanio's to the ick, think they were just too small to win. So far tho, the rest appear fine

Just a couple pics, practicing with the new camera

Hydrocotyle Japan started with just 2 small stems, now I have 2 patches

The end of the tank

My favorite part..Nesea Golden and Ludwigia Rubin. The plan: Instead of trimming the Ludwigia, I moved it to the back of the Nesea, and bought a couple more plants for the front. I will keep these trimmed after they redden up, and keep adding the clippings to the back so it gets thick and full and tall

And, the melted star grass has grown back...so exciting...3rd time is a charm -lol...I really love this plant. Staurogyne Repens are multiplying, with a touch of diatoms but nothing major. The red myrio in the corner has been trimmed and is twice as big as before...filling in nicely

Grow, baby, Grow!

Things are going well. All fish appear happy and well. The only problems in the last couple days was the co2 tank. I got it refilled, started it back up, had a leak, tightened things up,all appeared well. Came home a couple hours, was leaking like crazy, tightened a lil...tank is totally empty

Got a cholla woodstump this week I just had to add to this tank (it was originally intended for a different tank, but fits better here). Today I trimmed the red myrio and replanted the tops; should have a nice bush when it grows back in, may trim back one more time. Moved a bit of the Ludwigia rubin, and moved the star grass to create bush in front of the Nesea. Staurogyne's are getting some good roots and thick stems.

The cholla stump...I stuck a piece of willow moss in the hole on top

Grow,baby Grow!

It's been a bit since I posted...life got busy. Just an updated pic of the tank today; next weekend it is being moved across the room to a stand and an inside wall, and I am going to hang the light.
