where can i buy some nice rocks for my planted tank around the bay area? what groups or clubs are out here?

SFBAAPS is a great place. Check us out for sure!
Also, depending on what you're looking for, I have a few pieces of show seiryu if you're interested. It'll probably go good in a 30+ tank though.

There are a handful of landscaping supply/stone yards in the area, they may be worth checking out, and will be much cheaper then getting fish-specific stuff. -though, it will be up to you to try and determine the mineral composition, and whether a given rock will be suitable for your tank's water chemistry

the smaller rocks were orginally 1 big rock, i broke them to 3 smaller rock.

try checking out aqua forest aquarium in SF..it's right next to japantown, they have a lot of different rocks/stones along with a lot of other good stuff =)
