Might be a little hard to get under $50 unless your talking tank only and you have everything else. The $50 or so 10gal starter kit at petco would be the way to go. I gutted out the light hood it came with and installed 2 cfl

are you looking to just have plants, or do you want fish too? shrimp? petsmart has a 25% off sale right now (i just happened to be looking at it) and i noticed that they DO have a 10 gallon setup with a filter, heater and light for 47.99 (in store only)

http://www.petsmart.com/product/inde...AvailInUS%2FNo

and a 5.5 gallon setup for 37.99 (though no heater with that one)

If you want to keep a few plants & a few small fish (&/or with a Betta, or with shrimp), google this very nice semi-hexagon 5 gal acrylic aquarium- The Aquarius 5 - AQ 15002 - it comes with hood, CFL lighting fixture and bulb, and a Mini-Might Internal filter.

Priced anywhere from $26. @ Walmart; $37. on EBay; and $60. on Amazon.com

So, with a good 25 watt heater for under $20. @ Petsmart, the whole kit would be around $50.

Thanks for the neat suggestion. Definately worth looking into. Do you know if the lights are any good to grow plants.

I am actually open to suggestions, even $50 for tank only.

Don't bumble bee gobies require some salt or even brackish water conditions?

They should be - medium light - low tech - I believe it's a 9 w CFL bulb.
