I have read in several forums that some add aquarium salt to their tanks to benefit fish. Will this be harmful to planted tanks? If used how much should be added per 10G. Have read that Mollies do better with salt in tank. Not sure though that I want this as I seem to be suddenly overrun with Molly fry after a recent purchase of 3 adults !

I seem to always have an abundance of molly fry in my 75 gallon planted tank. I don't add salt and never loose any fry unless another larger fish decides to supplement my feedings. My LFS seems to be happy with my constant supply of them.

YMMV

Ron,
What is the KH and GH of your water? With your sucess in Molly keeping, I am guessing it is high.

My hard water in Colo Springs was great for my mollies. KH-161 to 286, GH-161 to 214.

i have a 10gallon tank and I had one male orange mickey mouse platy and 1 female rainbow platy. I moved them 3 days ago into my 55 and lastnight I found 2 fry and this morning i found another! I have always had good luck with live rating. I use soft water since I have a water softener. My fry are strong because they went from a pH of 7.8 to 6.6 and droping! They made it through that! This was a total drop of pH in like 1 day! Anyways still looking for fry!
