Would a betta eat fish fry?

I just set up a 10 gallon grow out tank for my bolivian rams and I kind of want to put a betta in there since there wont always be fry in there... would the betta eat the fry or leave them alone? I also have two marble sized mystery snails in there to help keep the substrate free of excess food.

Thanks in advance!

Hello. I had one betta that would eat every fry in sight. Another betta I had would not touch them. It definitely depends on the betta's personality. It is better to be safe than sorry if you wish to raise the fry.

yes. if small enough a betta will go after it. They are predatory fish, not herbivores. You might get lucky and get a lazy betta, where if there's places to hide for the fry he won't bother chasing, but if its in front of him I can guarantee you he will take it lol.

Get shrimps.

The betta would probably eat all your fry the day you put it in there.

If you value your fry, I wouldn't try it.

when it comes to such questions, i always ask myself the opposite. why wouldnt the fish eat fry?

if you cant come up with a good reason why it wont, it probably will.
