Valls became dwarfed?

So I purchase a couple of giant valls. It is placed in a dirt tank (Instead of soil, I use peat.) with diy co2 and 2wpg. After it was sitting there its growth is short. The leaves are only up to 4 inch. It even spouted new runners. Wonder why my vall became so short?

Vals like hard water, maybe the peat moss stunted it?

Hmmmmmm... Didn't know peat can dwarf valls. But it sprouted 2 new runners today, and It looks more of a large dwarf sag, than a vall. I know it is a vall because when I bought it, its long leaves are up to 10 inches.
