co2 diy with sponge filter?

ive been looking at alot of diy co2 systems latley and have an idea. i was wondering if i could use my dual sponge filter from ebay as a co2 diffuser?. i saw on youtube some hooking up a co2 system to a power head. my plan is simple, get a t valve and have 1 line running my air pump and have the other line running the co2. if any1 has tried this before or thinks it should work let me know....im going to attempt this tomarrow when my silicone drys on my bottle caps

I did somethibg similar with my DIY set up prior to going over to a pressurised system. It worked just fine, the sponge traps loads of the CO2 and keeps it submerged for a long time, giving it time to diffuse into the water, which is, of course, what you are trying to acheive.

I put a video of my DIY set up on youtube
if you are interested
