When Do I Dose?

I'm going to be doing a 10 gallon Dwarf Hairgrass tank. Two 13w 6500k CFLs, DIY C02 at 1bps, inert substrate. I will be EI dosing, meaning I will have KNO3 and KH2P04 for macro nutrients, and Seachem Flourish for micro.

My question is: When should I start dosing? As soon as the plants are planted? Or do I wait a certain time?

Default When Do I Dose?

Start dosing right away.

Also, know that you likely need Flourish Trace to round out your flourish Comprehensive. Or, bag it all and buy dry CSM+B.

Are you sure Jeff? I used just Flourish comp for my micro fert for years and had great results. I recently ran out and had some CSM+B and I still think I like the flourish better.

From my understanding and I could be wrong Flourish trace and comp are similar except comp is more concentrated and has some nitrates and phosphates.

looks like the trace has some things the comp doesn't.... i have only dosed comp in my low/med light tanks with no problems. on my higher light tanks i use the dry ferts CSM+B.

flourish comp.

Thanks for the help.

I think I'm still going to go with the Comprehensive.

One last question: How do I dose with the dry ferts... Can I just add them straight from the bag to the tank, or do I have to dissolve it in separate tank water first?

Either is fine, whatever is more convenient for you.

if your dosing a 10g tank i dont think you can really measure the right amount. you will have to dilute it in water. for anything smaller then a 55g its just to hard to measure in dry form. i think there is a dry to liquid calculator out there some where...

Its 1/8 of a teaspoon of KNO3, 1/32 of a teaspoon of KH2P04, and 1/32 of a teaspoon of trace ferts. Luckily I actually have teaspoons that go that low.
