Algae Grower

Any recommendations?
I left the reef hobby and got myself a 10g for a nano planted tank. All I have so far is the tank.
What substrate would you suggest? These are the options at my LPS. 1.) Flourite 2.) Flourite Red 3.) Eco Complete Planted Aquarium 4.) Instant Aquarium 5.) Fluval Stratum I'm pretty set on going with an AC20 for a filter. What kind of lights would you recommend? I want Med-high light. 1.) T5 2.) LED 3.) CFL Cost isn't really an issue but i don't want to blow $100 of a 10g light. Haven't decided on how full the tank will be with plants. I want at least 1/2 of the tank to be a carpet of some sort & the other 1/2 a mixture of med-tall plants. Let me know what you have on your 10g and how it works. Pictures are worth a 1,000 words. |

Would one of these http://www.exo-terra.com/en/products/compact_top.php work with (2) 6500k CFL bulbs. I got the bulbs from lowes and had them over my Refugium for my reef tank to grow Macro Algae.

You can get a fugeray for $60 that'll fit perfectly. That should give you some decent light - if you want high light go with a RayII ($80?) or AquaticLife T5 ($90). Or you can get a couple clip lamps and put some CFLs in it for cheap if you don't care about aesthetics.
