Question

Algae ID

Hi:

I am pretty sure this is GSA.

90 gallon heavily planted with pressurized CO2.

I have been fighting GDA on my glass for several weeks and finally seem to have overcome it. However, in the process of doing so, I have been monitoring my nitrate and phosphate levels. Both continually tested high (50 ppm nitrate and 10 ppm phosphate) and so I skipped dosing them this week. That is when this algae appeared.

Thoughts?

not going to say this is definitive, ... i came across one source that stated green spot algae does better in phosphate deficient environments, ...

if that plant (i suck at identifying plants), is naturally yellowish then things are good, ... as i'm dealing with an iron deficiency my plants are all going pale & yellowish

as odd as this sounds, ... stopping your CO2 would slow plant growth and metabolism down, giving you the symptoms of the plants doing better if you are dealing with nutrient deficiencies. as the plants aren't using nutrients as quickly more nutrients are available for everything.
