Crypt Undulate: Leave in pot?

My potted crypt u. is growing and doing great in the pot. Will it hurt the plant or stunt it's growth by keeping it there?

I think most people will suggest taking it out and removing all the rock wool. The plastic pot can restrict root growth.

You might get some melting after you disturb the roots but the crypt will recover when given enough time.

You could probably grow it in the pot for a long time, but the plant will develop and spread more if you take it out and plant in the substrate. If there are several shoots you can also pull them apart and start several new individual plants.

Really? Then how come I bought crypts before that were in the pots and had almost 5, 6 inches of growth?

Same here. My potted crypt has doubled in size while in the plastic store pot.

Maybe if it wasnt in the pot it would have tripled in size instead of doubled. Idk but just saying.

Taking it out of the pot also lets it all spread out more. I'd just remove it honestly, it's be better in the long run.

Idk, while it feels wrong to cut that, it does grow back. Or cut around the pot and preserve as much root as possible.

Yeah when removing it just be careful not to damage the roots.
A small pinsette works well to remove the wool .

Ah.. You do want to cut off the roots: once you re-plant, the old roots will rot. By cutting the roots you also encourage plants to grow new roots faster.

The rule of thumb: cut all roots to ~2" every time you re-plant. The rule does not apply to plants like Water Sprite, anubias, ferns.

I'd remove it just because I don't want the rockwool in my tank. It's pretty much the same as fiberglass

If you decide you want to leave it in, maybe at least remove the plastic cage- you should be able to snip it into fragments with wirecutters without disturbing the roots much.
