Nice hardscape so far! I'll be following this tank and I can't wait until you start putting livestock and plants in. I have had success with Mini Dwarf Hairgrass (Eleocharis accicularis 'belem') fully carpeting in a low-tech, stock Fluval Spec.

You can get DHG here.

I wouldn't do a DHG carpet in a tank this small, even the belem/mini variety. HC should work well (with regular trimming).

I just got one of these myself! Havent set it up yet though. I'm planning on stocking mine with either a betta. Or possibly microcrasobras and shrimp. OR CPD and shrimp. I wonder if threadfin rainbows would be okay in a tank this small?

You could try a monte carlo or marsilio minuta carpet. I also think celestial pearl danios would be cool. Maybe scarlet badis?
