My planted Spec
I realized that I have never posted any tank pics on tpt. So, I thought I'd share some of Spec that I just set up at work. I used some MTS that I had left over from my 125 and capped it with some cheap black sand from the lfs. Originally I was going to do a DHG carpet, but rethought that because I didn't want something that would take a lot of maintenance and trimming. So, I re-planted it with some Crypts (Wendtii, Lucens, and Lutea) and a couple stems (Myrio and Rotala).
First set up: ![]() Re-planted: ![]() My Dragonscale Crowntail Betta: ![]() I will also be adding some RCS and maybe a small snail soon. |

Looks nice. I really like that driftwood, where did you get it? Trying to find a bigger piece for my Spec but always finding pieces that are too big.

Honestly I don't like the white stone at all, it does not match to your DW..
Your DW looks really nice with the scape, how about some small anubias tie on drift wood? |

Thank you all for the feedback. I hot really lucky with the driftwood. I saw it at the lfs and thought it looked cool, so I bought it. This was 2 months before I got my spec. I thought about doing some kind of nano, but didn't know what. I think it fits perfectly.
As far as the rock goes, I'm not totally sold either. With the dark wood and substrate I felt I needed some contrast. I thought about tieing some plants/moss to the wood. But, to be honest I don't want to lose the character of the wood. It has so many cool little nooks and crannies that I don't want to cover up. I have been thinking of covering a piece of slate covered with riccia or moss to make a little carpeted area. I appreciate any other critiques and recomendations. |

I have also been toying with the notion of sprinkling some lighter colored substrate (likely left over STS) around the base of the wood to give some contrast and breakup the big dark area. What do you guys think of that idea? I looks kinda cool in my head
