Adding 3 Calico BN Plecos need info on them
I'm getting 3 Calico BN Plecos tomorrow to add to the community. I am putting them in with
12 Giant, Hatchet and Moustached Danio's 3 Jumbo Green Cory Cats 15 Amano Shrimp 1 Bamboo Shrimp I did some reading on them and they will pretty much complete my tank. Any advice on taking care of the Calico BN Plecos?

Quarantine all fish, every time.
BN are great algae eaters. When algae is scarce, feed with just about any kitchen vegetable. Most vegies can be fed raw, but my BN eat cooked vegies faster. Hardest vegies like pumpkin, butternut squash, yam: Bake to almost as tender as we like it, but do not add any spices, or microwave or boil. Dry cooking leaves it firmer, it does not fall apart so fast in the tank. Slightly underdone is best. Overdone, it falls apart fast. Softer vegies like broccoli stems, carrots (not a favorite in my tanks), zucchini: slice thin and microwave with just a little water until the color brightens, or the zucchini is not so white (not until it is fully clear, though). Or blanch in a pot of boiling water, but only for a few seconds. Softest foods like cucumber, melon and other fruits: Serve raw. Do not feed too many or too much fruit. Seed of over-mature zucchini or cucumber might not be eaten. Remove before feeding. |

they need some kind of wood to rasp on it helps with their digestion and dont give to much protein it will cause problmes. they tend to be shy or all the ones i have ever had are. over time they will get used to you but it does take a while so if there is a lot of movement around their tank keep the lights low for a bit to let them settle in
