Another attempt
Been contemplating another attempt at a planted tank since Christmas and based on the frequency of my visits to this site, I'd say I'm all in.
I've been doing a lot of reading through some of the posts and tank journals here and has shed some great insight in helping me determine what I want to do different. I want to do a 20 L dirt tank capped with Flourite to get things going for a reasonably cheap start. HOB filter maybe an Aquaclear. I'd like to start the tank more on the low tech side without CO2 (even though I have a DIY from my last project). I'm super interested in a carpet plant like Glosso, and limiting the rest of the tank to a few other hardy species. Maybe anubias a few crypts and some moss. Here's a few things I'm struggling with- Whats a good LED light that will fit my tank size as well as promote good growth for the glosso? If my light is in that medium to high range will I need to dose excel or add co2 or can I get away with the boost of nutrients that would come from the soil base? The paramount issue for me is cultivating the carpet and the health of the plants, anything im missing or recommendations you can share? Thanks, Hambone |

I bought the odyssea light from aqua traders.com. Great price and great performance. My glosso and HC are growing fine with thee light.
