Could anybody tell me what kind of algae this is?

+1 on BBA. It can be caused by low CO2 levels, so you may want to look into that.
You can try spot treating with hydrogen peroxide or glutaraldehyde (Excel, API CO2 booster, Metricide, etc) to kill off the BBA, but you will need to eliminate the root cause as well or else it will keep coming back.

I don't use C02. And actually, the crypts that all have it, have had it ever since I purchased them.
