Aquarium Shop of Royal Oak Liquidation Sale

Saw this Craigslist add.
https://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/for/4972193506.html

I always hate seeing an aquarium shop going out of business regardless of the sweet deals that can be had.

Thats a shame. Sucks seeing them go out of business. Seems like on this side of Michigan more seem to be showing up?

That's unfortunate to see a shop that's been around for that long go out of business.

I've been their a couple of times and thought their prices where pretty reasonable. I wonder why they decided to close. Blackheart. If you talk to them, let us know the reason for them closing.

Their pretty pricey IMO. But anyways I was there yesterday trying to see if I could find any sick pieces of driftwood. I overheard them talking to someone and they said they just couldnt compete with the internet anymore. Major bummer. I also couldnt any good driftwood there. It was picked through already sadly.

They were just unable to make it anymore. It's almost impossible to compete on hard goods vs the Internet which leaves just livestock and even that is hard now. I worked there for a long time back in the day and they were a great shop.

Yeah plus the few tanks that they actually have are ridiculously priced. 600 dollars for a 65 gallon with the stand? When you can get it elsewhere for half of that usually. I know supporting LFS over big chain stores is a good thing, but who is going to purchase stuff like that at those kind of prices when you can find it cheaper somewhere else?

Yeah you basically described the death of independent brick and mortar stores. Can't compete with Internet and big chains which get special deals with almost all the companies or wholesalers they deal with.

The only thing I can think of that people probably buy tank wise from LFS is if there's a really good deal on something or a tank that's a special order.

Little bit of a bump here... Today was their last day. I went up and they really didn't have much left honestly. But everything they did have was 60% off.

They did have a bunch of small bags of gravel left for 2.00 dollars a bag. So I ended up getting 30 pounds of Estes Nutmeg gravel for 12 bucks and some API C02 Booster for 5 bucks.
