Large air pump suggestion please!
Hello,
Some of you may seen I started a planted tank room but has a shrimp rack in it also. All the tank will be using sponge filters at least. I need a large air pump to power at least 18 sponge filters and need it to have enough air/power to drive more sponge filters/air equipment for the future. Because I will be adding more when time comes. So please help me out, I've never looked into a large air pump ever! thanks! -Han

I am using an Alita AL60 Linear Air Pump in my fish room. Love it. It has been goin continuously for two years, is quiet and efficient. Check out Aquacave, they sell several models. I would advise over sizing the pump and install a bleeder valve in your air loop. It can be closed or eliminated as you add more filters.

Depending on the depth of the tanks you're planning on, you may be fine with an Alita AL-40. But you certainly wouldn't be foolish in choosing the Al-60.
I run both an AL-40 and a Pondmaster in my fish room and you can only hear the Pondmaster. As for choice of vendors, you won't find and difference in pricing anywhere. But considering your location, I'd recommend Kensfish. www.kensfish.com He's at least in the same state, delivery by ground may be overnight, and the service is just top-notch. |
