Yea, tim's got a colony going of cherries last time I was there. I believe he may get amano's from time-to-time . . . .?

The auction was great fun . . . . got 3 khulis, 2 wild caught flagfish (doing great ). I think some of my plant packages for sale would have been better spent at PT, but oh well. Live and learn

Can't wait 'till next auction!

Ernie, different packaging at the auction would have brought you a better a price on your plants. Regular fish bags filled with air instead of flat is more attractive to the buyers and will get noticed quicker by the people pulling the bags in the auction. The auction went well for the fish club and we are planning on bringing in some nationally know speakers for our meetings. I'll keep you posted. I'm glad you got some fish.

I should be getting in 3 or 4 different varieties of shrimp this week.

Nice! I'll have to stop in for sure.

Hey Tim, I've got some crypts (ok, tons of crypts) that I thought you could use.....all those low-light tanks to fill up

bring some in at your convenience. as matt said I'm in the process of adding some new tanks to the mix. I'm adding a 10 footer and a 6 foot L-shaped tank which will creat the illusion of 16 feet of continuous tank that turns a corner. All of my large African display fish will go in to. That's going to free up another 135 gallon tank for plants. I may have to have you come in and play with my CO2 system for a high light tank. I just can't seem to find the time.

Thanks Ernie.

Did I read that correctly CO2 !!

(off-topic) guess who showed on my door step today an Ottawa county sheriff. Turns out he wanted to see my tanks. told him about the site so don't be surprised if we see a newbie around here.

You heard right, but don't get too excited I'm not perverting to high tech systems. I have the equipment and may do one tank that way just to prove that I know how and to show people the difference. It would allow me to expand my plant selection somewhat. Not all plants thrive in low tech. Plus if Ernie likes to play with gadgets, I'm willing to let him. Of course he didn't agree to it yet.

Matt,

They can work but they are not my preference. I use similar bulbs in plant holding tanks but not on display tanks. I prefer a mix of coralife trichromatics, colormax, and/or triton tubes. Of course these are more expensive.

There are two types of the grolux bulbs(Lowes or similar) - full spectrum and wide spectrum, I use one of each. They used to be only $5.50 I guess they have gone up.

looked at lowes, the tank bulb or plant growing as they call it runs 8.00, the 6500k daylight is 5.50 T-12 size .that is a 40 watt bulb.
