Algae Grower
|
Went on vacation came back to a disaster!
I was gone for 3 weeks an when I came back my tank was filled with algae! It completely covered my hair grass and clumped it up! Also it collected all the duck weed into a big gelatinous blob! It smells like pond, not the whole tank but the algae in particular. HELP! I have no idea what to do =(

Thats BGA. Increasing your nitrates will probably help. I would remove as much as you possibly can. Can you provide some more info about your tank?

It's a 2 gallon spec, it just houses 1 betta. I removed as much as possible which wasn't too difficult. I read up on BGA so I'm gonna try to see if a blackout might help =( Thanks for the help! I appreciate it, I've never had problems with algae before.

Why not just dose with Maracyn and be sure you've knocked it out.. I'm not sure a blackout really works with BGA.. it might kill what you can see, but it usually returns fairly quickly.

+1 for the antibiotic. Look for generic erythromycin to save money.
