Thoughts on stocking a 2.5 tall "tank"?

I have a nice filtered 2.5 gallon vase (with an optional heater) that is sitting around without critters of any sort in there aside from snails. By time it's ready to stock, the plants should have grown in thickly. I've had bad luck with bettas, and I used to have shrimp in there, what would be some other options?

not much else really will go in tanks that small especialy if its vertical. most fish swim left and right not up and down so makes it hard when there is not much swimming room.

That is tough. My immediate guess was headstanders haha but I know they are very difficult and do get bigger. Maybe some micro species, though a tall tank is a tough shot.

a few of the top of my head:

a pair of any of the pygmy sunfishes. no more than one pair.
heterandria formosa. the one inch per gallon rule goes out the window with these guys. i have had over two hundred in a ten gallon planted tank without even realizing it before. it didnt even look crowded and it wasnt until i drained the tank that i realized there were so many.

some of the smaller guaramis may work. i wouldnt keep more than one though.

luptolucania ommata.

some of the seasonal killifish would work if you only keep single male.

im sure there are others i cant think of right now.

you could also go with fairy shrimp or triops....

Go with shrimps. Sorry, there isn't many choice of fish when it comes to 2.5 tall.

I know there's not a lot of choice, but just to make this clear, this is a 8"dix12" vase. 8" across and 12" tall. I've tried shrimp in this bowl before, and while I like shrimp, they aren't my favorite for this tank. It's a white-ish substrate with a lot of red/bronze plants, red shrimp just... disappear in there haha.
I actually thought about sparkling gouramis, but the only ones I can find locally get about 3-4" (giant sparkling gouramis). For now, I think I'll keep my Het. Formosa population restricted to my 5, if they're going to overpopulate, I'd rather they do that there, lol.

So that pretty much leaves betta or badis. Guess I'll just go with a betta then, since I can get those local for decently cheap. Thanks for the reality check guys.

Micro rasporas are absolutely teensy, and I've seen them in a planted moss tank about that big... They're just a tiny bit over a half inch long.

Totally, they're itty bitty punches of color!

Boraras briggitae are my own personal faves, but there's bunches out there.
