Planted Tank Obsessed
|
I setup a 5 gallon Cube(10 * 10 * 11) this weekend for a Freshwater peruvian pufferfish. It has a glass top with a screw in CF from AGA(10 watts). There is about 2 inches worth of substrate with laterite/gravel on bottom and sand on top. Attempting to grow a field of brazillian microswords. Should this be enough light? and should i go with Flourish excel instead of Co2 injection?

you can do excell to insure you can control the co2 better in the tank. also a 5 gallon is easy size to work with excell. the micro swords will do fine in the tank. but if you want growth, i suggest another bulb.

you think so? the hood does have a reflector and adding another bulb would up it to 4 watts per gallon in a tank that in truth is only 9 inches deep when you consider the substrate. Thanks for the info on the excell. This is the link to the bulb at AGA, seems like a pretty good spectrum to me.
