Light for 2.5g Desk Aquarium

I have a 2.5 gallon tank I am setting up on my desk. Dimensions are 12.1 x 6.1 x 8.3 inches. It will get a small amount of ambient daylight, but the window is a couple feet away. I do not have a hood for this tank. I was pricing daylight CFLs today and found a good source, but have been unable to find a lamp locally that is suitable. Either they use a tiny amount of LEDs or the flexible neck isn't long enough. Does anyone have any suggestions for lamps that have worked? I'm on a tight budget, and am planning on low light plants. Thanks!

I put a small desk lamp over mine with a 6700k Phillips cfl bulb in it. Glosso grew like a weed with no co2 and no ferts. Used 100% Eco complete.

That's my problem. The desk lamps that I've found have such short necks. Maybe I'll have to measure each one and then set it on a taller base to get above the tank.

Do you find that each corner in your tank is getting enough light, Trigger? If I found a desk lamp that would work, it would be ideal. I was even looking at piano lights.

Yeah I had mine sitting one a small square box behind the tank. So it was raised about 6 inches off of the tank and all the corners got plenty of light.

This was actually the exact lamp I got
