dry fertz
so... i am considering take a real look at learning how to dry fert my 4 gallon nano tank. i'm hoping that i go beyond the average "green" looking plants and get some more lush, healthy green in my plants.
i'm going to start researching today but, does anyone have any resourceful sites they used they'd be willing to share with me? also, eventually i'll need to purchase dry fertz so.. if you got some, let me know! my set up-4 gallon finnex, 26w about 3-4 inches from top of water (not sure if it's high light but i'd have to assume it's close to it since i grew glosso well before), and diy co2. i guess that's a fairly low tech tank? i may venture into pressured co2 later but frankly i'm too paranoid to do so.. haha. i don't like paintball tank method unless there's a regulator and i haven't seen any good ones out there yet. thanks!

If you got dry ferts, here is a good cal for you to mix up the solution. I think the stock 26w is way too bright, I actually use a 13W GE 6500k, stock light without co2 algae algae, my experience only.

Perhaps this will help you guys to understand dry dosing.
http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/f...ing-guide.html Since you have a smaller tank (4 gal.) you can get premixed and dose in liquid form, 1-2 ml twice a week.

thanks all for your responses!
yes, for now i am going to get some dry ferts premixed and going to dose to see how things go from there. now that i have that taken care of - my other question! i copied and pasted from another thread so here it is "so i recently restarted a tank i was storing for few months now, and along with it the old AS i had in that tank. After i filled the tank with water it was the usual cloudiness but after a day i noticed that the top surface layer is significantly reduced to powdered form... i think if i were to plant anything it would go all over the place! any suggestions? should i remove the said powdered form of AS by just creating a lot of distburance in the water and quickly suck out the entire water? or should i just hope that it'll eventually go below the top substrate level, as i think smaller particles normally do over time. "

I would do much water change till it clears and only introduce fish, shrimp etc..if it will be planted tank only without animals...then you are good to go.

With liquid ferts you are paying for a whole lot of water and someone else's idea of how much NPK/micros you should be dosing.
I would plant it, get it to how you want it and then do a big water change and leave it be. |

yup, gonna do soem water changes for next few days since i just set it up. it's less muddy after i just changed it twice and hope that by end of week it should be fine. i don't want to plant it not cause it'll just cover the plants afterwards. i remember this just now actually thinking back to when i first did this with AS.
