Plant/scaping suggestions for 20L

I got a nice piece of manzanita for my 20L and I'm trying to figure out how to design my tank. I'm ultimately planning for OEBTs once the tank is planted.

The wood (see pic) is a little taller than I expected. I want about 3 inches of substrate (leaning towards Azoo Plant Grower Bed), so I might have to either cut some branches off the top or bury part of it under substrate.

The other problem is how to "decorate" it with plants. I was considering grinding fissidens up and smearing it on for a dry start, but I feel like the regular fissidens might be too bushy. I have some mini pelia and subwassertang to work with too.

Other plants I'm considering for the right side to balance it out are erios or downoi.

Any suggestions?

I would set it with the smaller branches downward into substrate

Best bet is to just bury the branches. Makes it stay submersed better for the first few days and if you ever wanna change it around you still have those branches. If it was me I would break off the end and move it all the way to the right of the tank so you could have a little open space on the left and the branches would kinda lead your eyes to it

I would bury the front portion of the branch and then plant a bunch of large stemmy plants behind it with some shorter ones in front of the branch. You could add some moss or fissidens to add a little bit of character to the branch.

Maybe start at one of the top back corners. Then the branches would spread and slope down towards the front. If you wanted to bury any if the branches you could still do so.
