Fissidens is a slow grower, difficult to cultivate in large quantities, and mosses dont usually take well with excel
HC grows faster but not fast, needs alot of light, ferts and co2, I dont think you would be satisfied with the growth rate and look with only excel and , but i could be wrong.

I wouldnt say its slow or difficult to cultivate in large quantites, but it does not grow as fast as HC will.

But i've found fissidens is pretty easy and doesnt require much vs HC which can be difficult.

for size reference this is 17G Mr Aqua tank, fissidens touches all the sides.

Ok, that is one impressive growth of Fissidens. How long did it take to accumulate that growth? Could you spare me a portion?

Yes, I meant its difficult to get alot, enough to carpet a tank, starting from a small portion or even a decent size portion. That my friend is an awesome chunk of fissidens

Hmm, your right. A separate forum stated that high doses of Excel is harmful to Fissidens.
