Eheim Filter

I'm really wanting an Eheim filter for my Fluval Ebi, but I can't decide between a 2211 or 2213. I have CPD's, Amano Shrimp, Cherry Shrimp, and a few Neons. I don't want them to be overwhelmed by the current, but I want a better brand than my Zoomed 501. I have a sponge filter rigged up to the intake, but also want to change the intake and spray bar to a glass lily-pipe and glass intake.

Do you guys think this might be too much flow in such a small tank?

Well I think the 2213 is to much for a 7.9 gallon and the 2211 to. If you want to go external filter then I would get the EHEIM aquacompact 40 or the 60.

Ya I also think that will be to much flow, that you'll be reducing the flow a lot.
How about a Ehiem 2232 eco?

I use one on my 12x12x12 cube and love it.

Before I sold my Ebi, I used a 2213 with no issues. Since the tank has a bit more height than a standard cube, the 2213 helped with flow toward the bottom of the tank. 2232 is about the same. Used it on the Ebi before moving it to my 12gal. 2213 is now on the 10gal in my signature.

Since the 2213 is just a few bucks more expensive than the 2211, that's what I would go with. You can pack the filter with media and use the quick disconnects to meter flow a bit if necessary. It'll also allow you to use the filter on a larger tank if you ever decide to go that route. Another plus to the 2213: inflow and outflow hoses are the same size, which is more convenient when buying replacements or getting clear tubing. 2211 uses a smaller outflow than the intake.

2211 is not too much for that tank. Not even close. It's a good fit if you ask me.

Thanks man. 2213 it is. Adjustable flow rate with an inline heater and co2 diffuser should slow it down if need be(I'm sure the need will be).
Can you tell me how long the tubing is?

And on a sidenote: do you think a lily pipe would be too much?

2211 would be perfect for an ebi.

The only thing I don't like about 2211 is the difference on the diameter of input/ output pipe.

lol. Well that won't work for a lily pipe. I'm looking for good flow, and the 2211, judging by specs, is weaker than my zoomed 501. Can't have that.

Eheim 2211 - 60GPH
Zoomed 501 - 79-80GPH
Eheim 2213 - 116GPH - Adjustable

The 2211 definitely provides way more flow than a ZooMed 501. Those numbers from ZooMed must be from some other universe.

If you use lily pipes with a 2213 on an Ebi, you won't even have to turn flow down. Just know that the dimensions of the tank are such that it could be difficult to get any sort of flow going near your substrate. I had difficulty with several different pipes and ended up just using a spray bar.

lol. I may have overdone it then, just ordered the 2213. I'll be sticking with the spray bar then. My HC started carpeting better after I got a spray bar that sprays atomized co2 down on it. Blyxa nearly doubled in size in 3 days with this inline diffuser!

You won't be overdoing it. 2213 will work fine. Just meter the flow until you get things where you want them.

Will do, and thank you for the input! I'm glad you said you had one on an Ebi, lets me know that it's not too bad on it!
