Gonna Start a nano!
Hey there everybody, after a long bout of "life" i am back into hobby full swing, i got my 55g planted tank revitalized and i now want to start up a nano shrimp tank.
I am almost dead set on Crystal Red Shrimp (CRS) but i am open to ideas, i really would prefer to avoid Red Cherry Shrimp because i just prefer to have some offset color. THAT BEING SAID, i am trying to figure out what the best kit would be to start off, i have been looking at the Fluval Ebi Nano Shrimp kit but i was wondering what some opinions are. I would like to grow a really nice carpet and some red stems so i planned on buying a second clip on fluval light fixture. I was wondering if the fluval shrimp stratum that comes with the kit is a good option for CRS or if something else would be suggested and i RAOK the item. BUT..... there is another option...... Fluval Flora Aquatic Plant Aquarium Kit is also available. PLEASE HELP! i am excited, have the OK from the wife, and ready to see my new tank cycling

I think the Fluval special v looks awesome. I have also heard that in order to promote breeding of crs they like bigger tanks so that may be something to consider.

i was looking at those, but it seems like they dont leave much room for light mods that would look decent with it. But they are awesome. I read somewhere that breeding the CRS needs 20g or more, i think it was a blog TPT actually, but anyways, i just want something simple that i can eventually have at work.

disagree on the 20g being the minimum. I have several in a 3 gallon that are breeding. Basically, go read the sticky at the top of the shrimp forum here on keeping CRS, start you tank up, let it cycle and go from there

Those rimless Mr.aqua tanks are cool - especially the low iron high clarity glass ones. I have a 6g GLA rimless that I really like. But GLA is all sold out of tanks. I heard that they're going to restock a new line of tanks soon. Mr. Aqua tanks are sold at Marine Depot. For lighting, check out the Finnex Fugeray or Ray2. Fugeray for low to medium lighting, and the Ray 2 for medium/high. Although I read that if you're planning on breeding shrimp, low tech non-co2 is the best route.
