Clone's 58g Oceanic
Well here it is. I found this beauty at a LFS that sells "scratch and dent" tanks and stands. Its a reef ready 58g Oceanic that cost me $235, stand included. The glass top ran me an additional $40. A deal of a life time IMO
This photo was taken on Nov. 10, a couple days after I set it up. I will have a photo update posted later tonight maybe tomorrow

Wow, doesn't look like it has a scratch or dent
!It's amazing- a 90 gallon set up that comes with everything is $125, and 58 gallon is $235... What a difference!

Very very nice!! Great deal! I was debating a bit ago on whether to get the 58 Oceanic you have or the AGA 65 I have now...mine was $200 for tank and stand, while the 58 would have been $325....this is with a bunch of trade-in credit so the price is skewed
The setup looks good! Lets see how full it can get in a month!!

Thanks for the complements. I admit I was nervous when I plugged the filters in. I didn't know what kind of reaction may occur running a Renna and an Eheim on the same tank
The wood in the background was collected from the Niagara River and attached to a frame I made out of 3/4" PVC. The wood was still floating when I started setting the tank up so I filled the PVC with old aquarium gravel to give the frame some weight. Once cemented together the frame was sanded with 100 grit sand paper and spray painted with a paint made to adhere to plastics by American Tradition. In the initial photo I had black craft mesh tied to the frame with the intention of tying moss and ferns to it. Good idea but a PITA in practice. Long story short I removed the mesh and went with a different method that I have used in the past. I cut the black craft mesh into strips, snip out a couple squares and push in two or three suction cups, tie some java fern to the mesh with black thread and attach it to the wall of the tank. I think of it as modular java fern. It has worked well in the past and in this case gives the tank some added depth.

I have some algae problems and was unsure of my dosing schedule so I asked for assistance in the thread below and Craig was kind enough to help me out.
http://www.plantedtank.net/forums/wa...lgae-help.html Well I have done a few things to address my algae problem. First, I removed the driftwood background. The wood was acting like a haven for green dust algae. Second, I cut the lighting schedule from 14 hours to nine hours. Third, I set up a mist CO2 reactor. I have seen increased growth, but it's not "wowing" me. The brown stuff is in decline and the green dust has slowed. I can't say I'm a fan of all the bubble in my tank though. After taking a second look at my in-line reactor I came to the conclusion that it is woefully inadequate. It worked fine on my 33 gallon but it is much to small for a 58 gallon. I used 1-1/2 inch PVC for my old one because that's what I had in basement. I just finished making my new reactor using 2" PVC and am looking forward to installing it on Sunday. I have removed a number of more delicate/fine leaf plants, most notably Rotala Vietnam and Rotala wallichii until the algae subsides. Tomorrow I will scrape the tank, do a double water change and trim the stargrass along with any plants that have heavily algae infested leaves. I'm hoping that once I get the CO2 straightened out I can concentrate on the 'scape rather than algae.

First, great deal on the 58. I have one too, so I am kind of partial to that tank. What are your water parameters (co2, kh, nitrate, phos. etc...) If you post those someone here can probably help you out.
I liked it with the wood and the abundance of plants. It looks like you lost or removed quite a few. The algae on the wood would have eventually gone away. Anyway post those water para. so you can stablize your tank.
