Watchin' snails!

The other night I was watching my two nerite snails chase eachother all over my 55g tank. No kidding, they went from one side of the glass to the other, across the bottom and back across the glass. The zebra was behind but eventually caught up and overtook my tracked one..literally. I find them hilarious to watch. If you look away for what seems like two minutes, they're in a completely different location then they were. Pretty fast for a snail.

I just got 6 mystery snails in the mail. I hope they are all ok, it's cold where I am. I love them, they are very pretty!

Any special treats they like?

I havent given my nerite snails anything speical to be honest. They get lost in my 55g easily and I figure if I did put a veggie in the tank with them, they may not find it. Any suggestions as to which veggies they might like more?

the lady I got mine from said apples, cut grapes, squash, spinach. I'm going to try some snail jello too. (knox gel, baby food, fish food/wafers & crushed tums for calcium)

I thought 2 of mine didn't make it from the cold but they aren't dead I had to get them out and see. I am in love with them, I feel like a dork! The shells are so pretty.

I'm new to the whole snail thing... Do nerites reproduce like crazy like pond snails do?

Nerite eggs dont hatch in freshwater. The only issue with Nerites are the unsightly eggs stuck on the decor.

I haven't seen any eggs yet, I'm sure I will in time though. I've had them for about two weeks now.

I am wanting a couple trumpet snails to help turn over the substrate. Now those from what I understand, can have population explosions. Mostly caused by overfeeding correct?
